Joke

How do you FEEL today?

Everyone has feelings.  There are many words to describe feelings.  Some of the common words are:

1)  happy

2)  sad

3)  mad

4)  scared

5)  surprised

Feelings can cause feelings in our body.  It is important to know how we are feeling and that it impacts our body.

Fun Task:

Write down each of the feeling words above on a piece of paper.  Think about one of the feeling words (for example:  happy).  Think about a time that you felt happy.  As you think about this time, where do you feel the ‘happy’ in your body and write it down.  Do this for each of the feeling words.

Knowing how you feel and where you feel it in your body is important.  How we feel effects our bodies just like our bodies can effect how we feel.  So, feeling better will depend on how you take care of both your mind and body.  By, Audra Eggum, MSW, LCSW

WHEN YOU’RE MAD TRY THIS - - -

Learn how to take deep breaths.  Breath in through your nose for a count of 3, out through your mouth for a count of 4.  *This also works for when you’re feeling nervous.

Kid’s Skill of the Month:

Start a Journal.  Get a notebook or sketchpad that is only for you.  Use this special journal notebook to write or draw in.  Writing and/or drawing for ourselves helps us in many ways.  Most importantly it helps get out feelings that stay stuck in us if we don’t talk, write or draw about it.
